Test Set #70
The report points out that the huge economic gains of new smart digital tools outweighing the high costs of the rising energy demand that data centres will require is a good sign. It shows that this major new design is not at odds with the global need to pursue safe growth plans across the board. Nations that are better set up with green power are bound to see a lower social and civic cost to pursuing their smart growth plans. The new digital structure does not yet rise to the level of weighing at a large scale on the national energy mix. Still the need for pursuing clean power for this new field is a must to follow. This is already in a sense the official state approach to the issue laid out at the recent global action summit held earlier this year. While the new digital field is not the sole area where a push for green power and safe ways is vital the field offers itself up for two main reasons. The first is the huge volume of power that it is set to use. The report shows that in the main home for computing power the expansion alone could raise power prices adding to price shocks from many other areas. As such green power could play a major role in guarding against a big rise in toxic air that old energy sources would likely cause. The second is that data centres lend themselves so well to local green power plans. Many Indian firms have already made moves to buy clean power and the acres that data centres occupy are ripe for adding solar cells. Nuclear energy may also turn out to be a good help as small modern reactors at new data centre hubs would avert a huge amount of toxic air. Power use is not the only harsh mark that the new age will leave on us.
