The second is that data centres lend themselves so well to local green power plans. Many Indian firms have already made moves to buy clean power and the acres that data centres occupy are ripe for adding solar cells. Nuclear energy may also turn out to be a good help as small modern reactors at new data centre hubs would avert a huge amount of toxic air. Power use is not the only harsh mark that the new age will leave on us.
